Ku Dé Ta club loses trademark rights, might face name change

Marina Bay Sands’ rooftop club Ku Dé Ta may soon be known by another less iconic moniker.

The Court of Appeal has ruled that Nine Squares, the holder of the Ku Dé Ta trademark in Singapore, only held the trademark in trust for the partners of the Ku Dé Ta beachfront club in Bali. Now that they’ve lost the rights to the trademark, the club might have to change their name.

According to Channel NewsAsia, Nine Squares has been ordered to transfer the registration of the marks to the Bali partners and account for profits made under the mark.
