A night spent drinking and entertaining guests turned into something tremendously tragic. A 20-something KTV lounge hostess was conveyed to hospital on Tuesday after blacking out when she downed 18 glasses of hard liquor — and she has since been declared brain dead.
The hostess passed out for while she was doing her job — she was promised $50 for every glass of liquor she drank, Shin Min Daily News reports. Meaning she accumulated $900 in tips before she blanked out.
Reportedly, she could not be woken up after she dropped unconscious. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was called in at 1.33am, and an ambulance was sent to the KTV lounge near Clarke Quay. Paramedics could not detect any pulse and breathing on the woman, and they administered CPR on site and en route to Singapore General Hospital.
According to Shin Min, the hostess has been declared brain dead, such is the damage she sustained from knocking back those drinks. At the end of the day, $900 is nothing compared to the complete and irreversible loss of brain function.
