One standard TV trope that we’re all aware of is none other than the bright blue liquid that’s always used to demonstrate absorbance in commercials. You know which ones — disembodied hands are always pouring them on sanitary pads and diapers.

It’s coloured bright blue for a reason of course. Geez, imagine if the ads were actually accurate with the fluid’s hue.

We’re all for subverting hackneyed concepts for sure. But damn, Kotex Singapore, you didn’t have to showcase a lady actually drinking the blue fluid in your new ad.

The brand that’s synonymous with feminine hygiene products enlisted social media influencer Naomi Neo to showcase their new product: the Kotex Overnight Panties. It’s actually just an adult diaper — but totally for Cool And Hip Young Ladies! Who needs to wear pants when you can slip on a super absorbent underwear that’s “all you need for heavy flow nights”?

Considering that (a) this was released on April Fool’s and (b) you need to jump the shark in today’s ad-saturated world to go viral, we’ll give Kotex Singapore a pass on having a young lady drink something that’s used to represent excreted bodily fluids.
