Kittens found brutally dismembered at Tampines Dormitory, a hotbed for cat abuse

In what must be one of the most disturbing cases of animal abuse reported this year, two kittens were found dismembered near Tampines Dormitory, with various limbs and body parts found strewn in multiple places.

A community feeder alerted the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) about the grisly find, where dismembered cat legs and tail was found at Block 1 of the dormitory around 11am yesterday, Channel NewsAsia reports. A graphic image of the find was posted on the CWS Facebook page.

CWS volunteers later combed the area and found even more remains of the cat — its head and two parts of the legs, half attached to each other.

Further searching uncovered the remains its sibling, a ginger kitten. Its guts were spilling out, its eyes were popping out, according to CWS CEO Joanne Ng. The ginger cat was actually seen alive that same morning.

Rahden, a cleaner around the area, notes that Tampines Dormitory has been a hotbed for cat abuse for quite some time, with around six to seven felines found dead by obvious human hands.

The dormitory itself is a residential premise for workers in the manufacturing and construction industries with 389 rooms. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will be assisting the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) with the case. A police report has also been lodged — CWS notes that CCTV footage will be used to aid in the investigation.

We’re not prone to violence, but it would certainly be a nice day to see the culprits get curb-stomped.
