A golfer who was minding her own damn business, unfortunately, had to deal with a ballsy and nosey man who tried to school her shots recently.
TikTok user known as Becca was interrupted by a man during a practice session at a driving range who tried to mansplain her for over two hours on her swing when the man’s own shots were not up to par.
“[T]his dude that’s been shanking and topping balls my entire practice session somehow thinks he’s in a position to mansplain to me how to golf!!! 😡😤 he was giving me “advice” for like 2 hours…,” Becca wrote.
@beccadefoe ⚠️ TRIGGERED!!! ⚠️ (mini rant) this dude that’s been shanking and topping balls my entire practice session somehow thinks he’s in a position to mansplain to me how to golf!!! 😡😤 he was giving me “advice” for like 2 hours… (he was with a bunch of his bros and i felt sooo uncomfortable speaking up) and unfortunately the bays were full and i couldn’t move 🥲 ughhhh ladies can you relate?! 👀 i swear this always happens to me too often… and usually it’s only when i go to the range on my own 🥲🥲🥲 i just came here to work on my swing in peace… honestly this is why i sometimes get “nervous” going to the driving range alone, especially when the bays are filled w/ dudes. #golf #golfer #golfgirl #golfing #mansplaining #golfaddict #golfswing #golftok #fyp #tiktoksg #singapore ♬ original sound – becca ⛳️🏌🏼♀️ golf
The user, who calls herself a “wannabe golfer”, said the man was with a bunch of other dudes so she felt “uncomfortable speaking up” and the other bays were full so she couldn’t move away.
In the clip, which garnered over 13 million views in two weeks, showed Becca practicing alone when the man (who was off camera) called her “girl” several times before saying:
“Your club face needs to be fixed, that’s why your ball keep[s] on going to the left.”
This was after Becca claimed he was the one who kept hitting shanks (when the club face doesn’t make contact with the ball completely and goes amiss) which can be seen in the background before he approached.
He even demonstrated a swing for her to follow.
Becca then tried to remain calm, replied with an “OK” and mouthed the words “something along the lines of “STFU”” when she back-faced him.
“If you’re gonna mansplain… at least know how to hit a golf ball,” she wrote.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Becca dealt with mansplainers at the range. She said it happened “too often” usually when she is on her own. Sadly, men like that have caused unnecessary anxiety to her.
“[H]onestly this is why [I] sometimes get “nervous” going to the driving range alone, especially when the bays are filled [with] dudes,” she said.
The majority of commenters were on Becca’s side where some applauded her patience and pointed out the man’s rudeness by addressing her as “girl” in the first place.
One expressed their irk in others (man or woman) who tries to give them unwarranted advice when doing any activity alone.
