Who needs top designers and grand entrances when a few store-bought items can help you look like one of the most influential people on Earth?
Singapore had its own brush with viral greatness yesterday with it’s very own Kim Kardashian-alike strutting that viral, all-black Met Gala look – at the Paya Lebar Quarter mall. And instead of being decked out in custom Balenciaga, our Kim K slipped tights over her glasses, slid on some mesh arms covers and draped bath towels as a skirt – items all available for sale in the mall.
“Keeping up with [Paya Lebar Quarter],” photos from the event were captioned, referencing the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Astride steps into the mall, the model recreated a photoshoot similar to that Monday at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The renowned event is an annual fundraising gala best known as a costume party where celebrities and notable figures parade in over-the-top looks.
Kardashian was completely covered in black from head to toe with a ponytail that almost touched the floor. The outfit generated immense buzz online, where it has been compared to the “dementors” from the Harry Potter films, a sleep paralysis demon, the woman in the bathroom sign and a locked video game character.
Singapore reacted to the mall’s replica by praising the brains behind the social media team, with some calling on them to give the creatives a raise.
It happened days after, Kardashian’s former beau and rapper Kanye West was spotted biking down the streets of Singapore. I guess we found our Kim.
