It was a close call for a man who almost got struck by bricks that were allegedly hurled by a malicious individual from a block recently.

Erwin Tan said three red bricks were thrown from the eighth-storey of Block 28 Jalan Bukit Merah at about 8:45pm on April 11.

He shouted at the man who withdrew after he attempted to throw the fourth brick. A police report was made shortly after.

“Someone threw bricks down from the 8 storey. 3 seconds faster, I could have been badly injured, or posting this from hell. How could this happen?” he wrote.

Photos Tan uploaded showed the smashed bricks that landed at the car park, narrowly missing a parked car. A shadow of a man can be seen looking down from the block but Tan has clarified that the man was not the culprit.

Tan yesterday updated in the comments saying that he went to investigate the matter on his own and believed that the bricks thrown were those used to support the potted plants by the corridors.

He also thinks that it might have been a “targetted attack” toward the car’s owner.

Tan said he should have run up to catch the man at that point in time instead of scaring him away.

“I cannot imagine any innocent person walking by and getting badly injured… on hindsight should have handled the situation differently (not have shouted but head up) to apprehend the culprit,” he said.

This is not the first time Tan had a near-death experience. He said he was almost involved in a car accident not too long ago.

“2nd incident in less than a month (1st a car accident that happened upfront) which a few seconds sooner, I would have been badly injured or killed. I hope someone up there ain’t sending me a msg or hint,” he wrote.
