Kidnappers Sheng Siong CEO’s mother detained for further psychiatric assessment

The two kidnappers of Sheng Siong supermarket CEO Lim Hock Chee’s mother will be detained at Changi Prison medical centre for psychiatric evaluation.

According to Channel NewsAsia, 41-year-old Lee Sze Yong abducted 79-year-old Ng Lye Poh on Jan. 8 at Hougang Avenue 2 with intent of demanding a ransom.

50-year-old Heng Cheng Boon was accused of assisting with the kidnap by confining Ng in the vehicle on the same day.

Their case will be heard again in court in March.

If convicted, both Lee and Heng may face the death penalty or jail for life with caning.
