Kallang mall under attack for ‘no entry’ sign banning NDP ‘uniform personnel’

This mall in Kallang is learning the hard way that when it rains, it pours.

Leisure Park Kallang has been deluged with negative comments after it put up a sign refusing entry to National Day Parade “uniformed personnel” while it was raining outside.

They likely meant NSmen and other students participating in rehearsals for the grand shebang on Aug 9.

Pictures of the sign went viral yesterday.

“We have nothing against the army boys… we just do not want to bear any liabilities if other customers slip and fall,” a security guard for Leisure Park Kallang told The Straits Times. The sign was taken down before lunch time, he said.

Understandably, netizens were upset at the mall management’s lack of empathy — after all, didn’t Singapore’s Graciousness Index each an all-time high of 61 in May?

According to the report, a spokesman for the NDP executive committee said it has resolved the matter with the mall’s management.
