Since the beginning of March, food outlets at Jurong Point Shopping Centre have been hit with suspensions due to the same exact reason: Roaches.

The latest eatery to be shut down temporarily is the mall’s Take 5 fast food cafe, which the National Environment Agency (NEA) found to have cockroach and rodent infestations. Along with an $800 fine, the cafe will have to cease operations for two weeks after accumulating 12 demerit points over the past year due to failure to keep their premises free of the pests.

Last month, two food stalls at the mall’s food court received suspension notices as well from the NEA — also due to roaches. Both stalls also failed to keep their premises free of cockroach infestation, but one had also failed to register a stall assistant while the other had been using unclean crockery.

Maybe it’s best to steer away from Jurong Point for a bit.
