Jover Chew, the Sim Lim Square mobile shop owner who at one point in his stellar career refunded a 20-something woman $1,010 in coins and laughed as another customer prostrated and begged for his money back, pleaded guilty in court this morning.
The 33-year-old owner of now-defunct Mobile Air faced charges of cheating, one count of criminal intimidation, and one count of insulting behaviour, involving a total of S$16,049,” reports Channel NewsAsia.
To his credit, Chew has made full restitution to all the victims of his nefarious retail scams. The methods of how the bullying retailer and his cronies scammed multitudes of innocent customers were revealed in court in October, with victims comprising mostly of vulnerable foreigners.
So far, four Mobile Air employees have been sentenced to jail for their roles in cheating unsuspecting customers.
