‘Jonathan’ had borrowed $23k from mentally ill man: Debt collection agency

In a statement released to media, JMS Rogers, the debt recovery agency that had licensed DZ Global to conduct its operations, wrote that all its debt collectors were properly trained before they working in the field, and that their modus operandi did not involve physical attacks or property destruction. 

This comes after a video of DZ Global debt collectors causing a ruckus outside a HDB flat in Buangkok went viral last weekend. 

The company also revealed that in this particular case, the debtor ‘Jonathan’ had “conned” $23,000 from a mentally ill man, causing stress to his family. 

DZ Global also released a statement via its Facebook page, iterating that the debtor had borrowed the money from their client’s unwell son to start a business, but instead used it for his own “luxury and leisure in bad faith”.
 

Netizens that have commented on the post are mostly not convinced — many are still accusing the debt collectors of not acting lawfully, causing public nuisance, despite their claims of acting according to the “standard operating procedure”.
