Award-winning comedian and scriptwriter John Cleese will perform at the University Cultural Centre on May 4.
An Evening with John Cleese is the Monty Python co-founder’s first stand-up comedy show in Asia, slated ahead of the sold-out Monty Python tour in London’s O2 Arena in July.
The Cambridge law graduate is one of the co-founders of the hugely popular Monty Python comedy group. Cleese starred in the Monty Python’s Flying Circus sketch shows, which aired on the BBC in the early 70s, as well as Monty Python films such as the controversial Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.
He went on to co-write and act in British sitcom Fawlty Towers, which topped the British Film Institute’s list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes in 2000.
Cleese also wrote and starred in A Fish Called Wanda, along with Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin. The film earned him an Academy Award nomination for his script, and a BAFTA for Best Actor.
More recently, Cleese appeared in two James Bond and Harry Potter films and played the role of King Harold in three Shrek installments.
Tickets ranging from $98-$188 will be available via Sistic from Feb. 14 onwards.
