Jetstar is hosting the world’s first flying book swap so you can read a book on holiday for free

Thanks to Jetstar, passengers can now join the Mile High Club — the book club, that is. This month-long initiative will see more than 500 bestselling titles distributed at boarding gates of selected Jetstar flights in Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 on July 30, with donations from the National Library Board, MPH Bookstores, Select Books, Book Point and Write Editions.

Held in conjunction with the National Reading Movement, Jetstar’s Big Book Swap was conceptualised after a survey of over 3,900 Singaporeans showed that half the number of people made less than five attempts to read in a year.

So put away your electronic devices (unless you’ve got an e-reader) and pick up a good old-fashioned book while you’re on holiday. After you’re done, stuff it back in the seat pocket during your return Jetstar flight for the next passenger. And if you’d like to contribute your own books, get a Book Swap sticker from the Jetstar crew.

Jetstar’s Big Book Swap will be available on all Jetstar Asia flights from Jul 30-Aug 31.
