A drunken night out that ended in unruly scuffles with two people has landed a 30-year-old broker with a three-week jail sentence and a S$1,000 fine.

Taiwanese national Dina Huang Chih-Yung rose to infamy in December 2016 when captured footage of her inebriated unruliness went viral across social media. TODAY reported that she has since been convicted for causing hurt to Cheng Teck Wei, a taxi driver, and harassing Jeivanay Alimuthu, a security officer of Skysuites @ Anson condominium.

The court heard that Huang boarded Cheng’s cab at Marina Bay Sands around 11:15pm on Dec 7, 2016, after getting drunk off 700ml of sake. She fell asleep during the ride to the Skysuites @ Anson condo in Enggor Street, and when they arrived at the destination, Huang stepped out of the vehicle without paying.

Cheng chased after her and held on to her handbag, shouting for help. Two condo security guards heard the commotion as Huang and Cheng got into a tussle, with the broker attempting to kick the cabbie and getting a few hits in. Eventually, Cheng let go, but Huang continued to scream abuse at him, proclaiming that she had “a lot of money”.

The woman went into a violent rage once again after she heard Cheng explaining the situation to a security officer, the TODAY report continued. She shouted even more vulgarities and began hitting Cheng on his arm, causing his glasses to drop and chip.

Huang then sought refuge at a nearby Japanese restaurant, but was promptly escorted out by the staff due to her disruptive behavior. The woman assaulted Cheng once again, but this time, Jeivanay intervened and tried to calm her down.

Alas, the security officer also became Huang’s target of abuse as she hit Jeivanay and even bit her left hand.

Eventually, Huang dozed off outside the restaurant, The Straits Times reported. Police arrived at the scene to find her reeking of alcohol. The two victims suffered minor injuries.

In court, the broker’s lawyer stated that Huang had accepted responsibility for her actions and was remorseful.

She could have received a heavier sentence that involves up to two years in jail and/or a S$5,000 fine for causing hurt to Cheng, on top of six months’ jail and/or a S$5,000 fine for abusing Jeivanay.
