Using pet names such as “Daddy” and “Daughter”, a former primary school teacher took his relationship with a young girl to lewd levels when he proceeded to engage in sexual acts with the then 12-year-old.
35-year-old Mandarin teacher Du Tao has since been sentenced to 21 months in jail after pleading guilty to the sexual assault of the girl he met online through photo-editing app Mei Pai in 2014, Channel NewsAsia reports.
The two continued to chat on WeChat, and the girl even sent him photographs of herself in her primary school uniform. She called him “Daddy” due to their massive age gap, while Du called her “nu er” — “daughter” in Mandarin.
After exchanging several sexually suggestive messages, the girl invited Du to her house in March 2014. The pair’s tryst was interrupted shortly after by the police, who had acted on a tip-off.
In court, it was revealed that Du had exploited the victim’s vulnerability, teaching the girl how to perform sexual acts such as oral sex through messages on WeChat. District Judge Eddy Tham agreed with the prosecution that Du had morally corrupted the girl, highlighting his “lewd and explicit sexual words and innuendo”.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined for having sex with a minor.
