It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a new air traffic control tower for Changi Airport

We don’t know ’bout you, but after travelling far and wide, a welcome home by Changi Airport is the most comforting feeling for us. It’ll forever be the best in the world (in our hearts). So we’re not surprised to hear of plans in the pipeline to expand and build a second air traffic control tower. According to TODAY, it’s to cope with an expected 50 per cent spike in traffic when the construction of a new runway is completed in the next few years.

Here are some stats to give you a clearer picture. Right now we’ve got two runways, three terminals and one iconic air control tower. Terminal 4 is coming up next year, along with the new tower, and the third runway will be converted from a military flight airstrip at Changi East, where Terminal 5 commences operations in the early 2020s.
