You’ve seen it a million times, you know exactly what the crescent moon and each of the five stars represent, you can say with confidence that the red color symbolizes universal brotherhood and equality of man while the white colour signifies pervading and everlasting purity and virtue.
That’s only because we’ve lived here long enough for those facts to be engrained in our minds forever.
So it’s only understandable when people from other countries can’t recognize the Singapore flag, right?
In a video by independent brand @evryjewels, the founder and host quizzes random people on the streets saying that if they guess the flag correctly, they can win a free piece of jewellery from her collection.

However the answers she received are mind-boggling to say the least. Several wrong answers where given – from Argentina to Afghanistan.
It was only right at the end that a girl correctly answers, claiming that it is where she was from there. Phew.
Of course, the Singaporeans who found the video did not fail to voice their opinions in the comment section, with some snark.
Also, if you didn’t already know, the crescent moon symbolizes a young nation on the rise and each of the five stars stand for democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.
