The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) will set up its Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore in 2014.
With the aim to complement the General Secretariat in Lyon, France and expand its footprint in Asia, the IGCI will facilitate cyber research and innovation, provide cyber-security training and house a digital crime centre in Singapore.
According to Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Teo Chee Hean, there is a need for cyber security to ensure the safety of an infrastructure that is used to generate new business values.
This seems especially urgent in Singapore, which suffers from mobile crime at an alarming rate.
