Folks were left raging without an online outlet to vent when internet services went down for hours on end in the Jurong West, Boon Lay and Corporation Road areas.

With more than 3,500 users estimated to be affected by the interruption in fibre broadband and fixed voices services, network operator NetLink Trust has been scrambling to restore services since the outage at 4.30pm yesterday.

The disruption of internet service is said to be due to a “fibre cut” at a worksite along Boon Lay Avenue, where piling works are taking place. Singtel, M1, Starhub and ViewQwest customers were deprived of their daily internet intake up till this morning.

Even so, services have yet to be fully restored today after NetLink Trust discovered more damaged cables. Poor site conditions and heavy rain have hampered the efforts to restore internet access.

Repairs are still underway, NetLink Trust assures — you’ll just have to wait for a little longer till late afternoon.
