Nothing wrong with accents really — especially if they’re inculcated from years of growing up overseas. The thick accent of national sports hero Joseph Schooling for example is pretty authentic and can be attributed to his years of schooling (hur hur) in the United States.
Years of encounters with posers however have taught Singaporeans the art of detecting bullshit accents, especially ones that their fellow countrymen can’t pull off at all. It’s just too bad for cosmetics brand Rimmel London to showcase such a public display of cringeworthy articulation delivered by Social Media Influencer (ugh, that title) Isabel Tan.
We don’t want to be too harsh, but there is a reason why the brand’s Facebook video got viral — and not due to outstanding makeup tips, mind you.
