Phoon Chiu Yoke, also known as the infamous badge lady of Singapore is back in the bad books again.
On September 7, she was re-arrested on three new offences. Two charges were filed under the Infectious Disease Act for failing to comply with an officer during an investigation, and one under Covid-19 standards for failing to wear a mask when needed.
Phoon was caught maskless at separate locations along Orchard Road earlier this year which amounted to two charges. The bizarre incident was caught by blogger-influencer Xiaxue on her Instagram stories.
Phoon also failed to attend an investigation at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and was charged again.
Last year, she served 16 weeks in jail for breaking multiple regulations.
Given that Singapore’s regulations on mask use have recently been more lenient, the timing of the new charges is somewhat unfortunate.
On Wednesday, Phoon turned up unrepresented in court and intends to be self-represented when she returns to court for a pre-trial conference in October.
