A 33-year-old domestic worker is now facing up to two years in jail for discretely disposing her stillborn baby to conceal the fact that she gave birth.
The Indonesian maid’s grisly secret was found out when she was referred to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital after complaining about not feeling well to her employers on Monday morning.
It was after some medical tests were conducted that it was revealed she had given birth recently, unbeknownst to her employers.
The New Paper reports that she confessed to delivering a boy who died at birth, and hid the body in a drawer in a second-storey bedroom in her employers’ home along Lorong Ong Lye. That same afternoon, police found the 15-cm body of a foetus —believed to be five months old — in the landed property.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the maid had been working for over a year for the family, and is married with two sons in Indonesia.
