The nation’s founding Prime Minister has left a wide-spread legacy as one of the world’s most respected political minds, and as such, other countries will also be paying public tributes to the late statesman on his State Funeral tomorrow.
The government of India has already declared a day of national mourning tomorrow as a mark of respect to Lee, where their national flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the country, as well as a prohibition of official entertainment. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the State Funeral tomorrow.
Similarly, New Zealand has also enacted that all government departments and public buildings will fly their flags at half-mast as well to mark Lee’s funeral. Various ministers and political leaders expressed their condolences for his passing in Parliament.
The Embassy of Russia in Singapore announced on their Twitter account that they too will be flying their national flag at half-mast to mark the State Funeral. First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov will be attending the ceremony tomorrow while President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev have already sent their condolences.
