A just-released Super Bowl commercial for the upcoming blockbuster film “Independence Day: Resurgence” shows downtown Singapore being utterly pulverized by alien weaponry.
In the clip, the iconic Marina Bay Sands building and Singapore’s CBD look as if they are being sucked upward in some sort of destructive whirlwind that is no doubt the work of extra-terrestrial invaders.
The 20th Century Fox re-boot of the 1996 classic science fiction disaster film will star Jeff Goldman, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, and Brent Spiner reprising their original roles.
Singaporean actor Chin Han will also be starring as Commander Jiang Lao.
Despite the shots of Singapore in the trailer, we cannot confirm at this time whether any filming actually happened in the Lion City. The only filming locations listed on IMDB are Los Angeles and Albuquerque, so we are guessing that the destruction of Singapore scenes were the work of special effects.
