A government cartoon posted over a month ago was updated to put to bed any doubts that it might have featured a lesbian couple.

The Housing & Development Board last night replaced an image initially showing two female characters as parents to include a more male-looking character hours after a prominent conspiracy theorist insinuated that this was a sign that Singapore was going to legalize same-sex marriage.

The public service announcement, which was published May 14, promoted a new, safer retractable clothes drying rack for public housing flats to benefit the elderly.

The accompanying graphic showed the contrast between “parents at age 29” and “age 65.” It previously depicted more feminine characters, though both were short-haired and could be seen as male.
