This ice cream arcade game/vending machine makes you work for your icy treat

Craving ice cream for dessert? You’ll have to put in the effort and work for it — at least when you get the icy treat from one of Happy Ice’s vending machines. Since the beginning of this year, the local company has placed over 40 such arcade game/vending machines featuring ice creams across the island, at shopping malls like Changi City Point, Kallang Leisure Mall and West Mall, as well as offices and recreational areas.

The Singapore-built machines basically function like one of those arcade claw games where you try (and usually fail) to grab items with a mechanical claw — except here, you’re actually guaranteed to get what you pay for. Fork out $2.50 to $3 for your turn to play, and if you’re skilled enough, you can even snatch up two ice creams at one go. (Don’t pretend your eyes didn’t just light up — cheapskate).

The ice creams are imported from Taiwan and Malaysia, and they’ve been certified by the Health Promotion Board as healthier-choice products, in case you were wondering.
