Wait, where were we?
The Philippe Starck-designed The South Beach hotel and residences on Beach Road, in between Raffles Hotel and Suntec, has quietly opened its doors and while we can’t fault its design, there is something about the way it’s named its dining establishments that’s caught our attention.
Or not.
Its all-day dining outlet is called ADHD and is in no way about attention deficit hyperactive disorder, a behavioral condition that affects three to 10 per cent of the global population with sufferers unable to focus and complete a task. ADHD here is short for all-day hotel dining, and we guess here you won’t be judged if you jump from one dish to another?

If you can’t sit still at ADHD, hop on over to Laugh restaurant next door, which has a mini-stage in one end of the room where stand-up comics can throw a punchline or two on certain nights. The bar-restaurant takes its theme seriously — quotes about the power of laughter are written on all over the walls and ceilings.

If you’d rather just drink in a dimly lit place, Court Martial Bar (soon to open) is where “an army of mixologists will ensure that you serve a full sentence of bespoke cocktails, aged whiskeys and gourmet bites.”
Whoever wrote that copy must be having a real laugh.
