Ho Ching apologises for posting that picture of a monkey flipping the bird

As one of Forbes’ most powerful businesswomen in Asia (not to mention the wife of Prime Minister of Singapore), one would expect actions of a higher, more elegant standard.

In the midst of heated accusations and name-calling between powerful siblings, Temasek Holdings CEO Ho Ching inadvertently threw her hat into the ring when she posted a picture of a monkey flipping the bird on her Facebook page. Talk about petty family feud eh.

Though we can’t assume that the picture was posted in response to Dr. Lee Wei Ling’s various allegations, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The Independent claims that the picture was posted at about the same time Dr. Lee released email exchanges between herself and The Straits Times, in which she alleges her brother abused his power and wanted to establish a dynasty.

The offending picture was taken down quickly though, and Ho has since clarified that it was a mistake made by a “Twitter newbie”. Apparently, she had inadvertently reposted the picture without captions, while also taking an impartial stance on the issue between her husband and her sister-in-law.

Peace, folks, and embarrassed apologies from this Twitter newbie.Had been playing around with Twitter y’day, trying…

This is all exciting fodder for gossip of course — rarely do the local powers that be get smudged with petty disrepute, and in public too. Looks like even Singapore’s most powerful family can’t escape paltry family feuds.
