It’s already been four years since Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong got his social media game face on. Four years since he (or rather, his PR team) started putting up pictures of his adventures, PM Lee’s pretty much en fleek as a politician online, accumulating over a million fans on Facebook and over 302,000 on Twitter.
In the typically dated style reserved for Singapore’s politicians and dads who do #dadjokes, he (or rather his unhip PR team again), celebrated the milestone with a photo montage.
4th Anniversary on Facebook and Twitter
Marking my 4th anniversary on Facebook and Twitter slightly belatedly this year since I was away last week, but I would be remiss if I did not say thank you for your comments, photos, and yes, selfies! I’m still surprised and touched by your warm responses, even after all this time. Thanks for your support over the last four years. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future! – LHL (PMO Video by Chiez How)

Spending four whole years fully involved in social media, the one lesson he probably took away was how ridiculously lawless the internet is. His exploits involving the internet in the last four years include (and is not limited to):
- Getting accused of corruption by activist-blogger Roy Ngerng. Responded by suing the pants off Ngerng with a defamation suit.
- Getting real good at sunset photos. Like, proper good.
- Showing a strong face to the public during the death of his father: iconic founding figure Lee Kuan Yew.
- Receiving several online threats against him.
- Berating hipsters over their pretentious trashy ways at Laneway Festival Singapore 2015.
- Getting into an online spat with his own sister (don’t worry, the Prime Minister’s wife allegedy joined in the skirmish too).
- He’s the face of a falsely attributed viral meme being shared around Philippine social media — and the Singapore Embassy ain’t happy.
