Heroin ring suspects arrested in Jurong West operation

A drug syndicate was busted Wednesday, along with 2.1kg heroin it was believed to be distributing around Singapore.

The drugs, which were worth at least $220,000, could have kept approximately 1,000 heroin addicts contented for a week, said the Central Narcotics Bureau.

CNB officers tracked the gang’s activities during a team operation around Jurong West.

The real action happened when officers spotted a suspicious transaction occurring at Jurong West Avenue 1 between what was later identified as a 34-year-old Malaysian man, the drug courier, and a 66-year-old Singaporean, the alleged drug trafficker.

Officers then swooped in on the scene and arrested the Singaporean, who had 670g of heroin with him, the Central Narcotics Bureau said.
