After residents of Pearl Bank Apartments bid the iconic building goodbye and moved out, CapitaLand revealed it spent three months documenting the local landmark for posterity. Now, the property developer has unveiled the design for One Pearl Bank, which will take over the old structure on Pearl’s Hill.
Created by Serie+Multiply, a joint venture between London-based Serie Architects and locally-based Multiply Architects, the development will feature two “gently curving” 39-story towers connected at the roof by sky bridges. Towering at a height of 178m, the building will apparently be the tallest residential one in the Outram-Chinatown area, offering residents panoramic views from the CBD to Sentosa.
According to CapitaLand, it will house 774 apartments, with options like studio apartments and penthouses, ranging in size from about 430 sq ft to 2,800 sq ft. In keeping with our garden city’s green look, One Pearl Bank will have a series of sky allotment gardens arrayed vertically at one edge of each tower. This amounts to a total of 18 such gardens, in what’s been hailed as a “world-first,” with almost 200 plots for aspiring urban farmers to grow their own plants.
The two towers will also have two sky terraces and two roof gardens across them, with amenities such as a lounge, an indoor and outdoor gym, a walking track, and an alfresco dining area. More love will be shown to Mother Nature with over 500 trees from 35 species and 135,000 shrubs, plants, and flowers scattered throughout 60,000 sq ft of space in One Pearl Bank as well.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
