An accident involving an overturned lorry on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) this afternoon caused massive traffic jams in the aftermath. Both entrances from Sengkang into the TPE were closed after the overturned vehicle blocked off the road leading into TPE.
According to a tweet by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) at 3:13pm, the accident occurred on the TPE towards the Seletar Expressway at the Punggol Road entrance.

An eyewitness report claimed that it was raining heavily during the time of the accident, TODAY said. It is unclear how the lorry overturned, but it is believed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The Straits Times noted that the Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call for assistance at 2:40pm and sent an ambulance to the scene. The driver was examined and no injuries were reported. The police confirmed that they were notified of the accident at 2:38pm.
The Sengkang East Road entrance into TPE was also closed due to the same accident. But camera footage of the TPE exit to Punggol Flyover on LTA’s One Motoring website showed that the heavy traffic had petered out by 4:18pm — just in time for commuters to make their way home during the evening rush hour.
Investigations are ongoing.
