Residents of a HDB block at Woodlands Drive 70 have raised concerns that a brothel is being run in their midst.
With all the tell-tale clues, it doesn’t take a sleuth to deduce. According to the residents, many men have been spotted entering and leaving the unit at odd hours, which had been vacant for more than a year before the recent activities.
A 46-year-old resident, Mdm Lim, told The New Paper that she once saw a well-dressed Westerner entering the unit with two skimpily-clad women. And that was only one of the dozens of casually dressed men in their 30s and 40s she has seen turning up at the unit.
Shin Min Daily News reported on Saturday that three foreign women recently moved into the unit, while advertisements promoting sexual services and urging men to “seek pleasure” have surfaced online. The prices are indicated on these ads but clients are allegedly only given the block number when they contact the advertiser, and are given the unit number only when they turn up at the block.
Another resident, Madam Jacqueline Tew, said she noticed strangers, some in their 30s and even in their 50s or 60s, frequenting the unit between 10pm and 11pm in the past week.
According to the police, anyone found guilty of managing or assisting in the management of a brothel could be slapped with a jail term of up to 5 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
