A gynaecologist here took his occupation way too far when he had sex with a 14-year-old girl twice. Stupidly enough, he tried to renew his medical license and making false declarations on his form.
64-year-old obstetrician and gynaecologist Ong Theng Kiat was convicted for two counts of sex with a minor — once in 2011 and the other in early 2012. The girl lodged a police report in September 2012, leading to his arrest and subsequent sentence of 10 months in prison in 2014, The Straits Times reports.
While he was on bail during the period of police investigations, he filled up a form to renew his practising certificate and answered “no” to the question if he was the subject of any police scrutiny.
The Singapore Medical Council has since struck him off the register of doctors and fined him $4,000 for the false declaration.
