Guy Savoy in Marina Bay Sands will cease operations from February

Marina Bay Sands’ (MBS) restaurant venture with three-Michelin-starred chef Guy Savoy will cease operations starting Feb. 3.

The closure of the Guy Savoy restaurant — a joint decision between MBS and the acclaimed chef — follows that of Spanish restaurant Santi in 2012, after the passing of Santi Santamaria.

Executive chef and restaurant manager Eric Bost called the closure “frustrating and disappointing” in an interview with Business Times.

He also revealed that most of the 14 kitchen staff and 13 service staff will stay on with MBS, while management staff may be deployed to overseas branches of Guy Savoy. Bost plans to return to France of his native United States to start his own business.

Taking over the space within the Celebrity Restaurants section of The Shoppes from June or July is Long Chim, a Thai street-food dining concept by Australian chef David Thompson.
