You’ve heard about the crazy awesome gig that was Guns N’ Roses’ first show on our shores. But the music itself has been overshadowed by the amount of hate from angry fans descending upon concert organisers LAMC Productions for all the things that went wrong that night.
Besides the horrendous traffic jams and the lack of a proper ticket screening process, there was also the issue of massive queues for food and drinks, as well as the quickly-depleted sustenance that left hordes of people frustrated.
Many were upset that they were unable to spend all the credits on their RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) wristbands because of the insufficient food and drinks at the booths in Changi Exhibition Centre.
Now, news has emerged that nearly $140,000 worth of credits will be refunded to those who purchased credits but couldn’t redeem them at the concert. Sandpiper Digital Payments, the company behind the RFID wristbands, stated that the first group of concert-goers were contacted via email for a refund yesterday.
People in this group are those who preloaded their iGO Asia eWallets up to 48 hours before the concert started. If you’re one of them, you can either keep the credit for use at upcoming events or get a cash refund via your credit card. For the latter, the standard $3 admin fee will be waived, and it’ll take five to 10 working days for the transaction to be reflected on your credit card statement.
As for those who topped up credits during the event itself, you’ll have to wait for another announcement, as Sandpiper is still in talks with LAMC. But rest assured both sides are working to resolve the issue and offer all affected concert-goers a refund in time.
