The serene locale of Woodlands Town Garden became a scene of a horrifying accident when an elderly woman fell off a bus at the park’s bus stop and ripped her feet into shreds of flesh and bone.
The picture of her gored feet went viral on Twitter yesterday.
According to Shin Min Daily, the bus driver drove off without realising that the elderly woman was just stepping out onto the pavement, causing her to fall, with a wheel of the bus running over her left leg.
Witnesses of the incident noted that the bus driver was visibly shaken and distressed by the incident, and administered first aid to the woman while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
All five toes of her left leg have since been amputated.
In a statement issued by SMRT, they confirmed the incident and noted that they’ve met with the lady’s son to apologise and will be extending assistance to the family.
The bus driver has been suspended from driving, and is assisting investigations by the police.
