A case of an apparent act of mischief carried out during a wedding ceremony caused a quite an alarm last Saturday morning (July 1), in which metal pellets were fired at groomsmen’s cars during a gatecrash ceremony in Woodlands.

Several pellets struck windshields and frames of the cars that were meant to fetch the bride, turning the happy occasion into a menacing one. Thankfully, no one was hurt at the scene, according to The Straits Times. Police were called down to Block 762 Woodlands Avenue 6 at 7:45AM and cordoned off the scene, where elaborately decorated white and silver cars were marred by cracks and holes from the pellets.

It is believed that an air gun was used to fire the pellets at the two cars. Only two of the five cars were hit, and there were at least 17 people were involved in the gatecrashing ceremony.

It was during the gatecrashing games that a bridesmaid heard a shooting sound and went to check on the cars.

The cops were called in to the scene, who cordoned off the area. The white car was found with at least six pellet holes.

A resident who lives in the area added that gatecrashing happens every three to four months, and usually occurs early in the morning with lots of cheering and noise.

“A few months back, there was the same thing, but with very loud honking,” she said. “Maybe the same resident got irritated. It seems that it’s very early in the morning — sometimes it’s not even 7am but earlier than that.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
