A month after the Grimace Shake ignited an unhinged TikTok trend, Singapore is releasing digital collectibles of the purple mascot.

Grimace, one of Ronald McDonald’s friends of the McDonaldland, will be featured in the brand’s 2,000 exclusive digital tokens for fans and collectors to own a piece of the fast food empire’s history starting next week.

The digital collectibles, which are made in collaboration with Bandwagon Labs and local NFT artist The Hidden Walls, will be available to mint for free through the McDonald’s app. Successful holders will also be given exclusive perks in the future.

“Grimace holds a special place in the hearts of many of our superfans, and this initiative allows us to evolve the character from nostalgic memories to love for all generations,” McDonald’s Senior Director Drina Chee said in a news release.

The minting process requires one to have a Digital Collectibles wallet that is available through Web3auth or the MetaMask app. Only one redemption per McDonald’s account is allowed and it cannot be traded or transferred.

Last month, McDonald’s restaurants in the United States sold a berry-flavored milkshake called Grimace Shake to celebrate Grimace’s 52nd birthday. But of course, the internet had to spin it and sparked a trend of TikToks where users mimicked death scenes after drinking the shakes.
