Great World City’s gonna look all fancy after its 2-year revamp, which starts this month

After sticking around for about 20 years, Great World City is way overdue for a major revamp. So starting mid-April, the River Valley mall will undergo a two-year overhaul — with some inevitable (but hopefully minimal) disruption to existing tenants — that is set to be completed by the third quarter of 2020.

That means by the time Great World MRT station opens along the Thomson-East Coast line in 2021, the building will be ready to welcome shoppers into its shiny brand new space.

Besides the refreshed façade, the mall’s skylights, floors, and ceilings will be updated, with walkways re-organized to change the way you navigate around the shops. Dual-level retail pods will also be added to the foyer area to host retail concepts, and an outdoor playground will be constructed on the second level to keep little ones entertained.

But really, most people just care about the brands housed in Great World City. So look forward to browsing the wares of 50 new tenants, including a cluster of Japanese retail and F&B names, as well as a new food hall concept in the basement when the renovation works are completed.
