What could have gone awry was quickly dealt with at the City Square outlet of hotpot chain Haidilao when it initially offered discounts for PSLE students – but based on grades.
They appeared to change their mind later on the same day and the restaurant started to extend the offer to all children receiving their PSLE results which were released from 11am on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant stated, “We ought to call for a celebration for all children’s hard work, regardless of PSLE scores!”
They added that parents who have received the PSLE results of their kids would just have to show the score to enjoy a $30 discount, no matter the grade.
The quick change in messaging met with a lot of compliments from customers in the post.
The initial post which went up on Monday said that students would have to get Achievement Level scores between 4 and 7 to enjoy the $30 discount.
Those who manage to get a score of 8 to 11 will get a $20 discount, and students scoring 12 to 20 will get a $10 discount. PSLE scores can range from 4 to 32.
While it’s all great and everything there’s still more not-so-fine print to be read: the discount applies only to the City Square outlet, is valid with a minimum spend of $150, available on weekdays only and also lasts till Nov. 30. Phew.
Other than that, enjoy your hotpot, kiddos.
