Looks like Grab’s in it to win it — the ride-hailing platform recently launched a rather aggressive campaign against its competition in Singapore (i.e. Uber) by sending out a text aimed at ComfortDelGro taxi drivers on Sunday night (Sept 3), offering a massive rental discount of over 40 percent for cabbies willing to jump ship to any of the other rival taxi companies. Why, you ask? Because other rival taxi companies all use Grab.

According to The Straits Times, here’s what the message read: “Dear Comfort Cabbie, HUGE Rental Discount deals from 4-15 Sept. $50 rental discount PER DAY, if you switch your taxi rental over to any of our taxi-fleet partners (TransCab, Prime, SMRT, Premier). No targets. No questions asked.”

The discount, which would amount to about $1,500 each month, comes alongside another announcement made by Grab. The company said that drivers who switch to private-hire cars will get an even bigger discount of $1,688 per month.

This strategic move comes just two weeks after it was revealed that ComfortDelGro was in talks with Uber to potentially avail its 15,000 cabs on the Grab rival’s app. So far, ComfortDelGro is the only one left that hasn’t joined forces with Grab — everyone from TransCab and Prime to SMRT and Premier has already done so, reported TODAY.

Seems like the campaign could be a rather successful one, as The Straits Times reported huge crowds at Grab’s Sin Ming office earlier today. Your move, Uber.
