In case you didn’t know, a family has mechanized a good deed by setting up a free vending machine stocked with cold cans outside a Siglap home.

The Chiam family, who runs TYVMdrinks, lets hardworking deliverymen dispense free water and sweet drinks from their vending machine which they personally stock right outside 13 Yarrow Gardens.

“Appreciating deliverymen and drivers for helping us. Visit our Vending Machine at Yarrow Gardens and share the news with your fellow mates!” its Instagram bio reads.

As of Feb. 17, over 631 drinks (21 cans a day) have been dispensed since they launched the initiative in early January.

Even postmen and waste disposal guys use them, father Eric Chiam told Channel News Asia recently.

The family thought that a vending machine would be more suitable for Singapore’s heat and rain than a fridge. They eventually settled for a reconditioned one from Japan that had already dispensed over 76,000 drinks.

Their initiative touched deliverymen’s hearts, with some relaying their thanks on their page online.

“[M]ost of the time we don’t get offered drinks at all, but you try to find a way to offer a drink to delivery people even when no one is at home, bless your family, hope that there will be more people like your family and be inspired to be kind, thank you,” furniture deliverer Paul.lim0208 wrote today.

“You guys are angels & superheroes who don’t wear capes. God bless all of you,” Chezjoeong wrote.
