The government is investing SGD100 million to build a new facility for skin research in Singapore.
The new Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS) will be a joint effort between the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR), National Skin Center (NSC) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), focusing on conditions such as allergy, eczema, hair conditions, inflammation, pigmentary disorders, skin ageing and wound healing.
The institute will see the introduction of the Thematic Skin Research grant for future collaborations between the institutes, PHD programmes for skin biology, as well as research tracks for doctors on dermatological residency programmes.
SRIS is expected to be complete by end-2015.
