When supermarket cashier aunties enquire blankly if one has “passion”, men of all ages will finally be able to say yes, they do have a PAssion card.
Thanks to the commemoration of 50 years of national service, all national servicemen past and present will be getting a free NS50 PAssion card.
Offered by the People’s Association (PA), the card comes with a five-year membership, and can be used for discounts and privileges at community clubs and PAssion card merchants.
It’s all part of the NS50 recognition care packages that’ll be given to all national servicemen this year, which will also include $100 in vouchers.
Probably insufficient for all that time and effort spent, but ehh, we’ll take whatever we can.
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen acknowledged the fact in an appreciation ceremony held yesterday, stating that “nothing can replace the hours that they have spent defending Singapore”. Damn right.
