Goodbye soon, Funan DigitaLife Mall, see you in 2019

Does this mean we’ll have no choice but to shop for tech goods at Sim Lim Square — the place that conman Jover Chew used to call home — in the interim?

Funan DigitaLife Mall, the better option for IT shopping in Singapore, will be closed for redevelopment from the third quarter of 2016 until 2019, by which time we can expect a new building where shoppers can “enjoy retail in a technology-enabled environment.”

“The new building on the Funan site will be an aspirational lifestyle destination that will enthrall shoppers and retailers,” said Mr Wilson Tan, CEO of CapitaLand Mall Trust Management, in a statement released this morning. “It will be an experiential creative hub within the city that engages communities to incubate new ideas and passions.”

We have no idea what that means, but CapitaLand said it will continue to refine the concept for the new integrated development. Till then, keep calm and continue shopping.
