After a successful run in Singapore, ride-hailing service Gojek has since rolled out its coverage to the entire island today. Happy new year!

The service, however, remains in beta phase, and not an official launch just yet. So for those still in the waiting list, you’ll still have to wait just a little longer to get Gojek rides. For the lucky ones who’ve already started using the services, they’ll be able to hail for rides anywhere in Singapore.

The Indonesian start-up has noted that it is still fine-tuning the app for the local market. When Gojek first launched here, users could only book rides in the eastern and south-central parts of the country, including the city, Punggol, Changi, Jurong East, and Ang Mo Kio.

Folks enjoyed having an alternative to Grab (only the biggest ride-hailing service in Singapore ever since it absorbed Uber’s operations in Southeast Asia last year) mostly for Gojek’s cheaper rides. But on Sunday, conveniently before the new year celebrations, Gojek introduced dynamic pricing. Just like how it works for Uber and Grab, prices would increase in areas with higher demand for rides.

Speaking to TODAY, Gojek Singapore’s head of operations assured that even with dynamic pricing, customers will still be able to enjoy “competitive prices”, which could be done through promotion codes and vouchers.

Grab, on the other hand, will not be entertaining a price war with their new rivals in Singapore as it found handing out promotions to be unsustainable. Still, Singaporeans are more than happy to see Grab being challenged — a consumer watchdog body found numerous complaints from both riders and drivers ever since Grab became the biggest player in the ride-hailing industry here.
