Housing Board flats in Geylang and Bidadari attracted keen interest from buyers, with bigger units in Geylang’s Dakota Breeze project and Woodleigh Hillside in Bidadari receiving the highest application rate of 0.4 at the close of the first day of application in this year’s biggest Build-to-Order (BTO) sales exercise, reported TODAY.
Majority of the applicants were second-time home buyers.
Property analysts expect demand for the two new projects in Geylang, the other being Pine Vista, to continue increasing as it has been three years since new flats were introduced within the area.
The other BTO units offered for sale are for a project in Yishun and two in Woodlands.
With accessibility and attractive location as major draws, the Geylang projects are expected to attract five applicants per unit given the limited number of units offered within the area, said Lim Yong Hock, key executive officer of PropNex Realty.
The two projects are also “within comfortable walking distance” to Dakota MRT Station, noted SLP International Property Consultants research & consultancy head Nicholas Mak.
Dakota Breeze is situated at the junction of Jalan Dua and Jalan Satu, while Pine Vista is bounded by Pine Lane and Cassia Link.
Meanwhile, Woodleigh Hillside project could prove popular among parents of young children due to the development’s proximity to Maris Stella High School, said International Property Advisor director Ku Swee Yong.
The biggest project launched with 1,355 units, Woodleigh Hillside is bounded by Bartley Road and Bidadari Park Drive and served by Bartley and Woodleigh MRT stations.
Of the six projects launched, five are within two bus-stops of MRT stations, making such projects “fairly attractive”, noted Mak. While Forest Spring in Yishun is the sole exception, the project has other attributes like a view of the Lower Seletar Reservoir and greenery within the vicinity, he said.
