George Goh, an entrepreneur of several businesses including Harvey Norman, today announced that he will be running for president as eligibility rounds start tomorrow.

Goh, 63, said in a statement that he will be contesting as an independent candidate with no affiliation with any political parties and instead leverages his entrepreneurial experience he built since the age of 16.

Some of his achievements include bringing Australian electronics store Harvey Norman to Singapore, being the chairman of Ossia International, an SGX-listed investment holding company, co-founding the charity Border Mission, and serving as an advisor for the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.

Everything Goh’s team wants the public to know about him is curated on a website and updated regularly on his socials to promote him during his presidential run.

Fun fact: Goh has a degree in music performance from Trinity College London and pretty much kills it in operatic singing.

Goh, who is married with four children, will be contesting alongside Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam who last week announced that he will be running as well as retiring from political duties under the Peoples’ Action Party.

President Halimah Yacob announced that she will not be running for a second term after serving six years this September.
